Malmsey Marmite The adventure begins…
Way back at the end of April, just before the May Day Bank Holiday, our lives were turned upside down by the arrival of a new puppy- a bundle of fun like no other who came bounding into our lives with as much pizzaz, oomph and gusto as any 12 week old bundle of fun could muster- as I write this it is now December and as I reminisce about the months in between, I cannot help to feel overwhelmed by the great joy, fun and laughter that she has bought to us all, so much so that in addition to the weekly hotel blog, http://www.hotelterravina.co.uk/blog/ where I write about her often, I am beginning a new blog about her antics too- her very own blog, just about Malmsey Marmite
Gerard, Romané and I became the new family for the most adorable puppy way back in May 2012…. We were supposed to go to meet the breeder on a wet and windy Sunday, (when are the days not wet and windy?) to choose a puppy which would be ready for us to have at home with us in 5 weeks time. However, when we got there, although the pups were lovely, we fell in love with a slightly older one, who was 12 weeks old and she ended up coming home with us then and there, (after an interview and at least 2 hours of being observed with her). Of course, I had nothing ready for a new pup as everything had been ordered and planned for an arrival 5 weeks hence….
However, we managed very well with a duvet, make shift lead and dog bowl and she settled in beautifully. She is a Boxer and her name is Malmsey, (I will explain why the Marmite bit has been added in a future blog) and whilst she will never replace our gorgeous dog, Merlot, who we lost 2 years ago, at 12 years old, she has become a very welcome addition to the family and we are all completely in love with her- she is simply adorable and the house feels right once more with a dog living with us.
In the months we have owned her, Malmsey has already proved she is a well behaved pup, (sort of) and a people friendly dog, albeit not always dog friendly. She considers herself to be human and looks on quite disdainfully when other dogs are in the vicinity.
We have had a bit of a roller coaster ride with her, not only due to her numerous mischievous antics, but also because she has been very poorly, had a number of operations and generally got into all sorts of pickles… but we love her whatever she gets up to and like a naughty but adorable child, we keep on forgiving her and loving her still more.
Till next week
